Sports massage is a specific area of massage therapy that is designed to help improve the performance of an athlete through the manual manipulation of the soft tissues. The standard techniques of effleurage, petrissage and tapotement are used alongside more advanced and remedial techniques that have many physical and psychological benefits.

 

This treatment, however, also has many benefits for non-athletes and all techniques can be easily adapted to suit an individual’s requirements.

 

This type of therapy is more than useful, whether the object is to use specific massage techniques to attend to specific dysfunctions and injuries or whether the object is to generate a relaxation effect.
